ABOUT THE ROLE
The work of Underground Long Hole Driller encompasses health and safety tasks, underground mine production, ancillary drilling, equipment inspections and care, work area housekeeping and any other tasks as assigned by the Underground Shift Supervisor.
* Conduct pre starts on equipment prior to operation.
* Initiate and participate in equipment handovers with Underground Shift Supervisor and cross shift operator.
* Follow and interpret mine plan instructions, profiles designs and ground support patterns to achieve good quality development in a timely manner.
* Ensure the safe, efficient, and productive Long Hole operation.
* Ability to exercise good judgment and be innovative in selecting, using and improving the correct procedure, process or technique to solve problems, execute tasks and safely operate the Long Hole drill.
* Ensure the reduction of consumables waste.
* Report significant changes in the ground conditions and use of consumables.
* Operate the Long Hole drill to Best Practice to minimise damage on equipment and maximise drilling productivity and accuracy.
* Provide assistance to other mining operators as and when required.
* Coach new and/or inexperienced operators.
* Conclude shift with a hose down with cleaning and refuelling of equipment where appropriate.
* Conduct manual scaling technique as required.
* Share knowledge and/or experiences with crew and/or management.
* Must ensure that the Mines Safety and Inspection Act and the Mines Safety and Inspection Regulations are adhered to and the company safety standards and policies are followed.
* Maintain a high level of housekeeping.
* Other duties as assigned by the Underground Manager.
ABOUT YOU
* Previous experience with Long Hole rig.
* Current Work Safely at Heights certificate.
* Basic electrical and mechanical knowledge of underground equipment.
