About This Opportunity

We are seeking an experienced Research Fellow to join the dedicated research team at our Frazer Institute to support and drive cancer epigenomics research. We are specifically looking for a senior researcher who has a passion for epigenetics and immunology with a keen interest in translating research into clinical applications. Help us create real change, and in return, you'll have the opportunity to work alongside highly awarded, world-class researchers at one of Australia's leading universities.

Working under the guidance and direction of Associate Professor Jason Lee, you will conduct vital research in cancer epigenomics with the aim of developing novel biomarkers and therapeutics. Specifically, you will support the major project "Understanding and Overcoming Resistance to new and emerging Therapies in Uveal Melanoma" which is supported by the US Department of Defence in collaboration with UNSW, Macquarie University and pharmaceutical companies. Other projects include examining the tumour immune microenvironment in ovarian and pancreatic cancer funded by OCRF and PanKind.

Ideal candidates will have experience conducting research into cancer treatment resistance, knowledge of immunology (NK cell biology), and experience with animal models and organoid cultures.

This is a research focused position. Further information can be found by viewing UQ's Criteria for Academic Performance.

About You

* Completion of a PhD in cell biology or immunology.

* A growing profile in research in the molecular and cellular immunology area.

* A developing reputation and track record of publications in reputed refereed journals and presenting at conferences.

* Evidence of successfully seeking, obtaining and managing external research funding.

* A growing record of supervision of Honours and Research Higher Degree students to successful completion.

* Experience in meaningful internal service roles in conjunction with active contributions to external activities.

Please note, you must maintain unrestricted work rights in Australia for the duration of this appointment to apply (employer-sponsored work rights are not available for this appointment). The successful candidate will also be required to complete mandatory immunisations.
