Established in 2015, FVC (Focused Vision Consulting) recently celebrated a decade of excellence for our medium-sized, boutique consultancy. We specialise in environmental assessments and approvals, in Western Australia. Our key environmental assessment expertise is in botanical assessments, based on the pedigree of our Founder and Managing Director.

The Opportunities
Our established and continually growing consultancy has a very healthy, ongoing workload. With projects secured into 2027, we seek to engage multiple botanists, plant taxonomists and ecologists with botanical expertise to join our well-regarded team.
The roles will require the successful candidates to contribute to biological assessment projects, particularly flora and vegetation assessments and monitoring programs.
The tasks will include one or more (ideally all) of the following as a basis:
Field work, including to remote and exciting locations
Flora specimen identifications
Collation and analysis of floristic data
Vegetation mapping and related spatial data management
Technical reporting of biological assessment and monitoring results
Depending on experience and aspirations, there may also be opportunities for contribution to the following:
Project management
Team leadership and mentoring
Client, sub-consultant or stakeholder management
GIS/spatial analysis
Survey design, scoping and study planning
Technical report review
Management of the FVC flora specimen collections, in-house herbarium/laboratory space and reference materials
Business development, marketing and proposals
Business management elements, such as operations and strategy planning, innovation planning, and continuous improvement initiatives
Projects and tasks within FVC's other technical teams:
Zoology (fauna studies)
Environmental Assessment and Management (EIA, approvals, environmental management)

About You
To be considered for a role, you will be able to demonstrate:
Relevant tertiary qualification (degree minimum) in botany, ecology, biological science, environmental science or equivalent
Demonstrated familiarity with current Technical Guidance for flora and vegetation surveys
Experience in flora and vegetation assessments and/or flora specimen identification in Western Australia
Pride in delivering high-quality outputs
A proactive attitude and commitment to working harmoniously with colleagues and valued clients, to deliver exceptional results
Candidates who meet the following criteria will be highly regarded:
Proven track record in an environmental consulting team
Willingness to travel for field assessments, including to remote locations
Excellent written communication skills
Current Western Australian C-class driver's licence
The ability to lead assessments, or undertake small assessments independently
Capabilities in vegetation mapping, including the use of GIS software and spatial data management
Experience in project management or co-ordination
Knowledge of and/or experience in zoological assessments, in addition to botanical expertise
Environmental impact assessment and approvals experience
Proposal writing and business development experience
