Job Title: Senior Ranger
We are seeking a motivated individual to join our team as a Senior Ranger. This is an exciting opportunity to work in a unique role that fosters strong partnerships, supports communication between stakeholders and helps implement policies, budgets and workplans for protected area management.
About the Role:
The Senior Ranger will contribute to land, fire, pest, and visitor management while promoting conservation and cultural values. The successful candidate will work in diverse environments, support Traditional Owner priorities, and help maintain Queensland's natural treasures.
* This role involves building and maintaining genuine partnerships with Traditional Owners, departmental staff, and local communities.
* You will help roll out work plans, budgets, and operational strategies that turn joint management priorities into on-ground results.
* Providing vital administrative and logistical support, keeping projects on track and communication flowing is also a key aspect of this role.
* Assisting in delivering field operations, community engagement, and conservation programs across protected areas.
Key Responsibilities:
* Develop and implement effective management plans for protected areas.
* Maintain accurate records and reports of all activities and outcomes.
* Collaborate with Traditional Owners, departmental staff, and local communities to achieve shared goals.
* Support the development and implementation of joint management agreements.
Requirements:
* A degree in a relevant field such as environmental science, ecology or conservation biology.
* Proven experience in land, cultural heritage or environmental management.
* Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
* A willingness to work in remote field environments for extended periods.
