FLINDERS LANE
Duty Manager, with Pathway to Venue Leadership
Why This Opportunity Is Different
Flinders Lane is not a new venue.
Nor is it an established venue that has already reached its potential.
For the past several years, Flinders Lane has been quietly evolving behind the scenes. While many hospitality businesses focus on marketing first and infrastructure second, we deliberately took the opposite approach.
The spaces, systems and foundations have been built patiently and intentionally, creating one of North Queensland's most unique hospitality and event precincts.
Today, Flinders Lane includes multiple event spaces, a commercial kitchen, The Underground speakeasy bar and a purpose-built laneway activation space designed for live music, markets and community events.
As the precinct moves into its next phase, our focus is now on consistent execution, operational discipline and delivering a high-quality guest experience every time.
We are looking for someone who wants to be part of that next phase.
Someone who enjoys being on the floor, leading from the front and taking real ownership of how a venue operates day to day.
About the Role
This is a hands‐on operational leadership role focused on event execution and day‐to‐day venue performance.
Working closely with our Events Manager and wider venue team, you will take the lead during events and trading periods, ensuring everything runs to plan while responding calmly and effectively when it does not.
You will be the person the team relies on when an event is live, responsible for coordinating staff, managing service flow and delivering a positive experience for clients and guests.
Outside of service, this role carries real responsibility. You will take ownership of stock, systems and operational control across the venue.
Key Responsibilities
The Team Around You
You will work closely with our Events Manager and alongside our Venue Manager of The Underground, who leads the day‐to‐day and evening operations of the speakeasy bar.
Together, these roles form the operational support structure of the venue, supported by the Owner and senior team.
About You
Growth Opportunity
Flinders Lane is continuing to evolve, and we want people around us who are capable, trustworthy and genuinely invested in what the venue can become. For the right person, this role may create the opportunity to grow into a broader operational leadership position over time. Nothing is promised or automatic, but Flinders Lane is a venue that recognises good people, rewards ownership and creates space for those who consistently bring the right attitude, standards and care to the business.
Our Values
