Inspired Living Qld provides Mentors to teach, give advice and guidance to our participants to build their independence, confidence and reach their goals.
Are you a trauma-informed experienced female, care provider wanting to support a wonderful, sensitive high needs participant, that needs to be wrapped in compassion, understanding, empathy focused on firm but fair support?
Our participant is reengaging with the Toowoomba region, and we are building a supportive community to help her strive to reach her goals and have a meaningful quality of life.
Working as part of a support team providing 24/7 care for our participant, the role of mentor will be required to complete the following responsibilities:
One on support in daily activities, including household tasks, meal preparation and medical administration, as required
Assist in developing and achieving her individualized support plan and goals
Foster a positive and supporting relationship with her, promoting her autonomy and decision‑making
Encourage skill‑building and independence through various activities and exercises
Implement and follow behavior support plans and strategies
Team collaboration to ensure their physical, emotional and social needs are met in a consistent and coordinated delivery
Ensure clear and effective communication with the participant, their family, and broader support team, working to ensure that the best communication style is put into place to suit the participant and their understanding of information
Ability to document their progress, incidents and changes in their support needs
Report concerns and or issues promptly to the Team Leader or appropriate supervisor
Care is 100% focused on the safety and wellbeing of the participant
Follow established safety protocols and procedures, including infection control, medication management and emergency responses
Ensure that risk analysis is practiced always, with a proactive approach to prevention of accidents or incidents
Role Requirements
The ideal candidate has experience in disability support in a similar role within the community, or similar lived experience.
You work well in a team, and independently and are able to demonstrate resilience, strong communication and work well in a changing environment.
You are committed to the principles of person‑centered care and individual choice
You have developed leadership skills, are inspired in what you do and have strong positive interpersonal skills
Mandatory Requirements
Due to the participants individual needs as documented by her medical care team, we are only able to accept female applicants for this role.
Full Australian working rights
Cert III or IV in Disability Support or related field
Open C Class drivers license and reliable vehicle
Ability to obtain a Yellow Card
