About the Role
SJ Traffic Management is seeking an experienced Senior HSEQ Advisor to join our team on a part‐time basis from our Bunbury office. We are offering family‐friendly, flexible school hours, 5 days per week.
This is a hands‐on, end‐to‐end HSEQ role. You will be working within a capable and experienced HSEQ team, taking ownership of a broad range of compliance, risk, auditing, incident management, and administrative functions.

Is This Role Right for You?
This role is primarily office‐based. There is a minimum of one site visit per week and occasional travel, but if you are looking for a role that keeps you in the field most of the time, this one probably isn't for you.
Strong administration capability is just as important as your HSEQ knowledge. A meaningful portion of this role involves document development and control, record keeping, inbox management, and reporting — and we need someone who approaches that work with the same care and accuracy they bring to an audit or an incident investigation.
The right person is quietly confident in their abilities, takes initiative, and genuinely enjoys getting things right.
Key Responsibilities
* Administer health surveillance, drug and alcohol testing, fatigue and injury management processes
* Liaise with workers, insurers, and medical professionals
* Prepare, monitor, and maintain fatigue and journey management plans and associated records
Audits, Inspections & Compliance
* Complete quality, safety, and compliance audits and inspections — desktop and site‐based
* Minimum of one site‐based day per week; traffic qualifications and inductions are prerequisites for site days
* Lead or contribute to internal and external audits against ISO9001, ISO45001, ISO14001 and other applicable standards
* Support collation of evidence for external audits and at client request
* Develop and review risk assessment documents including SWMS, risk registers, and safe work procedures
* Identify, assess, and upscale HSEQ risks and performance issues
Document Management & Control
* Review, develop, and distribute HSEQ policies, procedures, and plans
* Maintain accurate records and registers with high‐level data entry accuracy to required deadlines
Training & Competency
* Review, verify, and report on employee and subcontractor qualifications and inductions
* Facilitate meetings, toolbox talks, and training sessions
* Encourage and support workers to report hazards and incidents
* Collate investigation records, identify root cause, and drive corrective and preventative actions
* Communicate with traffic workers, clients, and regulatory bodies to effectively manage incidents
* Identify, enter, track, and complete improvement actions through to closure
* Manage HSEQ objectives, KPIs, and statistics; report to clients and management monthly
* Support the development and rollout of new HSEQ software
Inbox & Administration Management
* Manage the HSEQ department shared inbox — regular review, distribution, and task tracking
* Other duties as directed by the HSEQ Manager
What You Will Bring
* Minimum 3 years' experience in an HSEQ role with demonstrated ability to work independently
* Certificate IV in WHS (BSB41419) or equivalent
* Proven experience in audits, incident investigations, risk assessments, and document control
* Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Adobe Pro, and online HSEQ or operational software platforms
* Strong administration skills — high data accuracy, organised, and deadline‐driven
* Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to engage across all levels of a business
* Valid WA Driver's Licence (C Class preferred; provisional or E licences not accepted)
* Ability to pass pre‐employment and ongoing health screening, drug and alcohol testing, and criminal record check
Highly Regarded
* Experience in the traffic management or construction industry
* Construction Induction Card (White/Blue Card)
* HLTPAT005 – Collect specimens for drugs of abuse testing
* ICAM Investigation certification or equivalent incident investigation experience
* Qualifications or experience in auditing, injury management, or training and assessing
