- Our client has a 1600 ha. property 60 km north of Adelaide, seeks applicants for a hands-on Assistant Manager. The farm operation includes cereal and legume crops, beef cattle and sheep.**_About the role _**
- Reporting to the Farm Manager, the Assistant Farm Manager will be responsible for the efficient implementation of livestock, cropping and fodder production programs and the safe operation and maintenance of plant and equipment.**_Responsibilities _**
- _Ensure daily and weekly activities as set by the Farm Manager are completed to a high standard _
- _Assist with the implementation of the cropping program _
- _Oversee husbandry of livestock on the property, at all times. _
- _Operate farm plant in an efficient and safe manner and ensure that maintenance of machinery is carried out as required _
- _Assist in maintaining fencing, water supplies and the general property amenities to a high standard. _
- _Communicate with the Farm Manager on all work programs _
- _Provide feedback to the Farm Manager to aid and identify any staff training and career opportunities. _
**_Requirements _**:
**_Education / Experience / Skills _**
- _An understanding of operations and tasks involved in dryland cropping systems including cropping for pasture management, fodder production and general property maintenance. _
- _Record keeping for livestock, cropping and fodder enterprises. _
- _Be prepared to meet OH&S; legislative requirements. _
- _Experience in machinery maintenance and competence in safe operation of machinery including the use of precision agricultural systems would be desirable. _
- _Previous experience with pasture management, pasture renovation and fodder conservation. _
- _Current driver's license class C (car) and R (bike) are essential, other classifications desirable are HC or MC and front end loader accreditation. _
- _Chemcert accreditation (or equivalent) will be necessary. _
