Settlement Worker Mosaic Multicultural Connections is looking for a part-time Settlement Worker to undertake casework, group work and community education with newly arrived individuals and families from refugee and migrant backgrounds, particularly with the Arabic speaking community. The role is based in our Armidale office and will be offered at 45.6 hours per fortnight until June 2027 About Mosaic Multicultural Connections (Mosaic) Mosaic is an independent not for profit organisation providing a range of services for multicultural individuals, families and communities within the Newcastle, Hunter and New England regions. We provide high quality services that strengthen and inspire people to become self-reliant, active and empowered. About the role: The role will provide casework, advocacy and group work support to women, men and their children from refugee and Culturally Linguistic and Diverse (CALD) backgrounds. Some of the key responsibilities of this role include: Provide high quality, culturally competent case work to clients, supporting clients towards achieving independence and self-reliance, community engagement and well-being. Assess, plan, advocate and assist clients, to support and strengthen their connection with their own culture while supporting their integration into the wider community. Support the planning, implementation and facilitation of appropriate group programs and activities aimed at increasing community connections, and the confidence, skill and capacity of newly arrived community members to settle well in Australia. Collaborate with other local service providers, and with the wider Mosaic Multicultural Connections team, to deliver community information sessions, consultations, events and other community development initiatives for new arrivals. Develop and maintain positive relationships with key referral agencies and potential project partners in order to improve service co-ordination and referral, avoid duplication and improve local collaboration. Ensure distribution of information on issues impacting the settlement of people from refugee and migrant backgrounds, seeking opportunities to advocate for improved practices, policy and structural change to reduce disadvantage and improve opportunities, such as through representing Mosaic at key network meetings. Take a role in forums and activities that respond to the needs of newly arrived communities. Uphold privacy and confidentiality requirements in accordance with legislation, policies and procedures. Complete basic administration tasks, including client progress notes and documenting daily service activities that support program outcomes. Selection Criteria: To be successful in this role, you will need to address the following selection criteria: • Relevant post-secondary qualification in case management, social work or related discipline (degree preferrable but not essential). • Experience in casework with demonstrated ability to manage caseloads. • Experience working with CALD communities, with an awareness of the particular needs of newly arrived people from migrant and refugee backgrounds. • Liaison and advocacy skills, with capability to work effectively with a diverse range of people including CALD clients, community groups, local businesses, referral agencies and government departments. • Effective communication skills both verbal and written including report writing and data collection, making presentations and in communication with clients We value a diverse and inclusive workplace Mosaic is committed to promoting social inclusion and productive diversity, by seeking diversity within our workforce.
