Schwartz Media is looking for a sharp, reliable sub-editor to help with the production of our flagship morning newsletter, Post.
This is a contract engagement ideal for someone with strong copy-editing skills who enjoys working early or is based in a compatible time zone. The engagement involves editing discrete newsletter editions, with each edition requiring up to one hour to complete. Services are performed remotely and delivered in line with an agreed early morning production deadline.
About Post
Post is Schwartz Media's flagship morning newsletter. It is a daily aggregation of the top Australian and international news stories that is emailed each weekday morning to our newsletter subscribers. It also appears on The Saturday Paper's home page.
Key responsibilities
Provide high-quality copy-editing and fact-checking for Post
Deliver clear, accurate structural edits to improve flow, clarity and readability in line with house style guide
Assist with picture research to support newsletter content
About you
Excellent editing and proofreading skills, with strong attention to detail
Sound news judgement and confidence working to tight morning production deadlines
Comfortable working independently in a fast-paced environment, managing your own deliverable
Demonstrable knowledge of Australian news and politics
Proven ability to work supportively one-on-one with writers
Prior experience in journalism, publishing or digital media editing preferred
Engagement details
Editing services provided per edition, for up to three editions per week
Each edition requires up to one hour of editing
Delivery is aligned to early morning publication deadline, 7am AEDT
