About the role You will ensure the efficient and safe operation of training area range (TAR) sites. This involves consulting with the Training Area Supervisor, managing daily task schedules, maintaining infrastructure, and coordinating tasks with associated Contractors to ensure the readiness and safety of TAR operations. The role also includes conducting logistics reviews, providing training, and responding to incidents, including bushfire emergencies. Your key responsibilities will include: Performing minor corrective works to TAR infrastructure such as signage and boundary fences as required. Competently operating vehicles for off-road driving in difficult terrain including but not limited to the recovery of vehicles (winch operation and ancillary recovery equipment). Coordinating associated contractor tasks applicable to TAR (e.g. Land Management, Housekeeping, Cleaning, Resource Recovery and Waste Management, Estate Works and Estate Upkeep). Conducting logistics reviews, surveys and inspections (e.g. audits, assurance activities, Range safety inspections), as determined by the TAS. Briefing Defence users / associated contractor personnel on TAR layout, reporting measures and safety restrictions in accordance with local TASO. Providing skilled, competent and current qualified training area operator services for all TARs that require Range Live Fire Target Equipment. Supporting RCO to ensure incidents and UXO are recorded accurately in the mandated Defence Training Area and Safety Management Booking System. Assuming the role of Bushfire First Response Firefighter or Fire Ground Supervisor as required. About you Our ideal candidate will have: Previous experience in a similar role would be highly desirable. Relevant qualifications in logistics, safety management, or a related field would be highly regarded. Certification and training in vehicle recovery and winch operation. Firefighting certification and training for Bushfire First Response and Fire Ground Supervision. First Aid and CPR certification. You must be an Australian Citizen and able to obtain and maintain a Defence Security Clearance.
