Mental Health Clinician – Community Mental Health


Location: Lismore, NSW
Start Date: ASAP
Employment: Permanent Full-Time


About the Role


We are looking for a dedicated and experienced Mental Health Clinician to join the Lismore Acute Care Team. In this role, you will play a key part in expanding service capacity and delivering timely support to adults (18+) experiencing acute mental health crises. Working within a collaborative multidisciplinary team, you will provide assessment, short‑term intervention, and coordinate referrals to Adult Mental Health Services or other appropriate external providers.



Key Responsibilities

* Provide community‑based acute mental health interventions and crisis response

* Conduct triage, comprehensive assessments, risk assessment, and safety planning

* Deliver short‑term case management and assertive outreach

* Provide brief psychoeducation and therapeutic interventions

* Collaborate in care planning and discharge with internal and external stakeholders

* Practice in accordance with Trauma‑Informed Care and Recovery principles




Requirements

* Qualifications in Psychology, Social Work, Occupational Therapy, or Mental Health Nursing

* Current AHPRA registration or AASW eligibility

* Experience in acute or community mental health settings

* Strong assessment, crisis intervention, and collaborative care skills

* Ability to work independently and manage high‑pressure clinical situations

* NSW Driver's Licence and Working With Children Check

Locum Mental Health Registered Nurse


Join us as a Locum Mental Health Registered Nurse and play a crucial role in providing comprehensive care across all divisions of mental health nursing, including community, inpatient, acute, and more. We are seeking dedicated nurses for a 12‑week contract (or more) in regional and remote locations across Australia. In these dynamic roles, you'll work in varied settings, providing case management, planning patient care, administering medication, collaborating with multidisciplinary teams, and maintaining precise documentation.

As a Locum Mental Health Registered Nurse with cmr, you'll experience a range of meaningful roles across Australia's mental health care landscape. From community outreach to acute interventions, you'll provide critical support and care in:

* Acute Mental Health : Work in fast‑paced acute care settings, managing urgent mental health crises, stabilising patients, and coordinating with emergency services. Use your crisis intervention skills to make a rapid impact during high‑pressure situations.

* Inpatient Units : Deliver consistent, supportive care to individuals requiring more intensive mental health support. You'll manage daily assessments, administer medication, and collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to help stabilise and rehabilitate patients on their path to recovery.

* Community Mental Health : Be a key resource for patients outside the hospital environment, offering case management, comprehensive assessments, and care planning. Your work in community settings allows you to build deeper connections, empower clients, and support them through their recovery journey.



Each role allows you to make a difference while expanding your skills, from crisis intervention and comprehensive assessments to individualised care plans and community outreach.



Criteria:


To excel in this role, you should have:

* Qualifications : Current registration as a Registered Nurse with AHPRA without restrictions.

* Experience : A minimum of 5 years in mental health nursing, particularly in case management.

* Communication Skills : Excellent communication abilities to engage effectively with patients and team members.

* Collaboration : Ability to work collaboratively within multidisciplinary teams.

* Transportation : A valid driver's licence for regional and remote roles.

* Flexibility : Willingness to commit to travel nursing contracts in regional/remote areas for at least 12 weeks.
