About The Role
The purpose of the Vector Control Officer is to provide a range of Vector Control and like services to the wider community including mosquito surveillance, ground and aerial chemical treatment applications, treatment evaluations, reactive and proactive community education and awareness, technical advice, avoidance and preventive measures, disease information and compliance activities.
About You
The ideal candidate will have:
* Detailed knowledge of vectors, their diseases and effective mosquito control strategies.
* Detailed knowledge of agricultural chemicals and their application to pests of the Townsville region.
* Sound knowledge of aerial application techniques, principles and practices.
* Sound knowledge of state legislation and their application relating to vector control activities.
* Well-developed inter-personal skills, utilising conflict resolution and decision-making skills.
* Well-developed customer service skills including a customer focused approach to service delivery.
* High standard of oral and written communication skills including reporting.
* High level of computer literacy skills and experience with Microsoft Office Suite of applications and ARCGIS software.
* Demonstrated ability to safely use and operate specialised surveillance, treatment, and application equipment such as ATV's, adult mosquito capture traps, handheld & motorised application equipment used to apply mosquito chemicals.
