Orthopaedics Commercial Lead
The ideal candidate will possess extensive experience in commercial roles, preferably within the medical device or surgical sales sector. Strong knowledge of orthopaedics is essential, as well as a proven track record of complex, high-value selling to the medical profession.
This role requires strong negotiation, presentation, and communication skills, with the ability to influence at executive and clinical levels. The successful candidate will be responsible for leading key commercial projects, delivering strategies in the field, and providing insights into growth strategies and sales/marketing plans.
Key Responsibilities:
* Deliver agreed strategies in the field through customer engagement, staff mentoring, opportunity identification, and deal closure.
* Provide insights into growth strategies and sales/marketing plans.
* Establish flagship reference sites for key technologies to support wider market adoption.
* Identify and communicate market trends, challenges, and opportunities to the Commercial team.
* Grow our presence with both existing customers and competitive accounts.
* Champion the launch of new technologies into the market.
Project & Sales Management:
* Lead high-value commercial deals from concept to contract signing and implementation.
* Identify and develop key external stakeholders (HCPs, hospital CEOs, procurement leaders) in collaboration with commercial teams.
* Map and manage complex sales pathways, working with local teams for seamless execution.
* Support sales training on strategic initiatives to drive consistent results.
* Negotiate and integrate contract requirements into business operations.
Operational Excellence:
* Monitor and report on performance against objectives, forecasts, and budgets.
* Oversee promotional and expense budgets to maximise ROI.
* Coordinate high-impact meetings, events, and trade displays.
Requirements:
* Tertiary qualifications in a related field or equivalent senior commercial experience.
* 10+ years' experience in commercial roles (sales/marketing) within the medical device or surgical sales sector.
* Proven track record of complex, high-value selling to the medical profession.
* Strength in closing sales, prospecting, planning, and aligning solutions to customer needs.
* Deep market knowledge and ability to influence at executive and clinical levels.
* Excellent negotiation, presentation, and communication skills.
* High energy, professionalism, and a results-driven mindset.
Travel Expectations:
Significant and frequent travel on sales region of responsibility - travel domestically at least 50% of their time.
