About The Role
The SSN-AUKUS Program Requirements Directorate is seeking a highly experienced Capability Integration Engineer to provide specialised engineering services supporting the development of Nuclear-Powered Submarine (NPS) capability requirements.
The role focuses on leading capability integration analysis and capability development planning to ensure NPS Capability Systems are coherently delivered to Navy and the Integrated Focused Force (IFF) via DEF 1 frameworks. The position operates across Defence, the Australian Submarine Agency (ASA), and AUKUS partner organisations, with a strong emphasis on trilateral integration, governance, and requirements development.
Key Responsibilities
Develop and maintain a detailed understanding of SSN-AUKUS Capability Integration requirements to support Operating and Support Intent development
Develop and maintain the Capability Requirements Set defining Fundamental Inputs to Capability for NPS Support Systems
Represent Capability Sponsor equities across the Australian Submarine Agency, including Phase 1 (SRF-W), Engineering & Technical Division, and Stewardship and Security Division
Engage with DGSM and DGNIIIW offices to ensure integration in support of Undersea Warfare and submarine domain capabilities
Coordinate across Defence and AUKUS partners to ensure NPS
Capability integration into the Joint Force and interoperability with allies
Act as the Capability Sponsors point of contact in AUKUS and Defence capability integration working groups and forums
Develop, draft, and deliver briefings, decision briefs, noting briefs, and draft directives for senior stakeholders including ADG NSMC and the SSN-AUKUS Program Requirements Directorate
Design and support implementation planning for the ASA/DEF 1 Capability Model and associated frameworks
Develop NPS Capability Integration use cases and coordinate with relevant FIC Leads Develop and manage the NPS Capability Integration Roadmap and associated requirements
Maintain ongoing engagement with AUKUS Capability Working Groups and Sub-Working Groups
Support artefact development for OCD documentation, including drafting, consultation, and preparation
Contribute to NPS Capability risk identification, assessment, and analysis, including accountability and responsibility risks
Represent the ASA/DEF 1 Program in Defence Capability Development forums
Develop and implement Requirements Branch business and work plans
Essential Qualifications & Experience
Bachelor of Engineering from an Australian institution or an equivalent qualification recognised under the Washington Accord
Demonstrated practical experience in platform integration engineering Strong experience in capability integration, requirements development, and Defence capability frameworks
Proven ability to operate across complex, multi-stakeholder Defence and international environments.
High-level briefing, writing, and stakeholder engagement skills.
