We are seeking a technically strong Project Manager (Radio Communications) to deliver complex telecommunication infrastructure projects across radio, networking, and field-based deployments. This role is responsible for the end-to-end delivery of projects including planning, design coordination, deployment, testing, and commissioning of radio communication systems, ensuring delivery is safe, on time, within scope, and within budget.
Key Responsibilities
* Manage full lifecycle delivery of radio communications systems (design, build, test, commission)
* Interpret and manage RF system designs, network architecture, and infrastructure requirements
* Coordinate installation and integration of technologies such as: Two-way radio systems (e.g. P25, DMR, TETRA) RF infrastructure (repeaters, base stations, antennas, feeders)
* Microwave and IP-based backhaul networks
* Oversee site-based deployments, including towers, shelters, and equipment installation
* Ensure compliance with technical standards, safety regulations, and QA/test plans
* Manage FAT/SAT testing, commissioning, and system acceptance
* Coordinate field technicians, riggers, and specialist subcontractors
* Manage vendor deliverables across RF equipment, networking hardware, and infrastructure
* Monitor subcontractor performance against technical and delivery standards
* Program and optimise resource allocation across multiple concurrent projects
* Act as the primary technical and commercial interface with clients
* Provide detailed technical reporting, progress updates, and risk assessments
* Manage scope changes, design variations, and implementation challenges
* Represent client requirements throughout project delivery lifecycle
* Manage project budgets including CAPEX/OPEX tracking
* Oversee procurement of RF and network equipment
* Track costs, variations, and forecasting
* Maintain detailed project documentation including RF design updates
* Ensure compliance with industry standards and regulatory requirements
About You
* Minimum 6+ years Project Management experience in telecommunications or radio communications
* Proven delivery of large-scale infrastructure projects (>$500K)
* Strong technical knowledge of:
o RF systems and radio communications networks
o Telecommunications and IP networking infrastructure
o Experience managing end-to-end deployments (design to commissioning)
o Ability to manage multiple concurrent technical projects
* Experience with P25, DMR, TETRA or similar radio technologies
* Knowledge of microwave transmission and backhaul networks
* Experience working in critical communications environments (e.g. public safety, transport, utilities, mining)
* Familiarity with ACMA regulations and Australian telecom standards
* Exposure to AutoCAD, RF planning tools, or network management systems
* Core capabilities:
