About the Role:
The Research Assistant will provide high level administrative and research support during the daily functions of the Committee. Your skills and expertise will be utilized in the preparation and operation of annual budget estimates and outcomes inquiries, which will include liaising with stakeholders and preparing detailed chapters and briefing papers for the Committee. Our perfect candidate will possess proven research and writing skills and exceptional interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively in a fast-paced environment.
Responsibilities:
* Draft briefing papers, report chapters, and recommendations for review.
* Prepare targeted questions for Committee members at hearings.
* Prepare correspondence, briefs, and reports for internal and external use.
* Arrange hearings, meetings, site visits, and liaise with stakeholders.
* Take minutes of deliberative meetings.
* Analyse evidence, submissions, and transcripts; provide summaries.
* Monitor and update Committee information online.
* Liaise with senior parliamentary officers on administrative and procedural matters.
* Prepare briefing notes on relevant departments, agencies, and Ministers.
* Contribute to community engagement and departmental activities.
* Model parliamentary values: responsiveness, integrity, confidentiality, impartiality, accountability, respect, and leadership.
* Assist leadership and other business units as required.
About You:
* Proven research and writing skills, with experience preparing accurate and timely reports, correspondence, and briefings.
* Strong communication and interpersonal abilities, capable of building and maintaining effective relationships at a senior level with diplomacy and discretion.
* Sound analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret evidence and data to inform decision-making.
* The capacity to work independently within a small team, demonstrating flexibility, initiative, and the ability to manage competing priorities and strict deadlines.
* Demonstrated expertise in providing senior-level administrative support, including arranging meetings, preparing agendas and correspondence, and taking minutes.
