About M&J Marine
M&J Marine is a family-owned marine construction contractor based in Port Stephens, delivering piling, wharves, bridges, waterfront structures and marine asset maintenance across NSW since 2018.
We're not the biggest outfit on the water — and that's deliberate.
We prioritise quality over shortcuts, solid systems over chaos, and people who take pride in doing marine work properly.
You can expect early starts, good banter on site, and a crew that backs each other — but also clear expectations and accountability.
The Role
We're looking for a genuinely experienced marine professional
who can:
* Lead small crews when required
* Step back and work under existing supervisors when needed
* Think ahead, solve problems, and deliver work safely and professionally
This is a
hands-on role
. You'll be on the tools and on the water, involved in real project delivery — not stuck behind a desk.
Work includes both local and away jobs.
Typical away swing is
Monday 6am departure to Friday afternoon return
.
Extended trips and weekend work happen occasionally, but they're not the norm.
Experience Requirements (Non-Negotiable)
This role is not entry-level
.
You must meet
one
of the following experience pathways:
* Minimum 5 years' experience in marine construction
,
OR
* A recognised trade qualification combined with a Master 5 (or higher)

* MR Truck Licence
Highly Regarded (Not Essential)
* C6 crane ticket
* Working at Heights
* Additional HRW licences
What We're Offering
* $45 – $70/hr
