Salary: $116,636 – $129,479 per annum, plus 17% Super and Leave Loading.

The Opportunity
The Senior Business Analyst plays a critical role in the Pay Confidence Program, ensuring Western Sydney University implements sustainable payroll accuracy and strengthens compliance. You will bridge current-state payroll operations and future-state improvements by converting detailed analysis into actionable system and process change.
You will lead the investigation into payroll error types, partnering closely with Payroll, HR, IR, IT, and program leadership to diagnose causes, document rules, and map future-state processes. Your work ensures every remediation calculation is grounded in defensible logic and that ongoing controls reduce the likelihood of recurrence.
This role also guides the design of preventative controls, data requirements, and workflow enhancements, ensuring the University moves towards its long-term objective of zero future underpayments. You will define business requirements, lead workshops, create user-friendly documentation, and coordinate UAT with stakeholders.
What Success Looks Like
Deliver accurate and structured business rules that clearly define calculation logic and error treatment.
Lead effective root cause analysis sessions that identify true drivers of payroll errors.
Produce process maps and operational procedures that strengthen preventative controls.
Translate complex award and enterprise agreement conditions into clear, actionable guidance for system and process design.
Coordinate UAT activities ensuring readiness, clarity, and stakeholder engagement.

About You
Demonstrated experience as a Business Analyst within HR, payroll, remediation, or compliance environments.
Strong capability in root cause analysis, requirements gathering, and translating findings into solution design.
Proficiency in process mapping using BPMN, swimlanes, or similar methodologies.
Strong analytical capability with the ability to interpret and simplify complex award or EA provisions.
Excellent communication and facilitation skills with diverse stakeholder groups.
