About the Client:
Our client is a large, nationally recognised organisation operating a complex and distributed workforce model that includes contractors, labour-hire providers, licensees and outsourced partners. With increasing regulatory scrutiny and a commitment to strengthening workforce governance, the organisation is expanding its legal and compliance capability and is seeking a technically strong Senior Lawyer to join its team.
About the Role:
In this role, you will provide technical legal leadership across extended-workforce compliance, with responsibility for interpreting and applying workplace legislation, industrial instruments, regulatory guidance and contractor frameworks. Key responsibilities include:
* Leading compliance reviews, audits and investigations across contractor and labour-hire arrangements
* Developing and embedding workforce-governance and compliance frameworks
* Advising on complex contractor, labour-hire and licence-holder risk issues
* Supporting remediation programs arising from breaches or systemic gaps
* Working closely with Legal, IR/ER, Procurement, Operations and relevant regulators
* Translating legal obligations into practical, operational controls for the business
About You:
You are a senior employment or workplace relations lawyer with deep technical capability and strong judgement. We are seeking:
* Extensive experience advising on the Fair Work Act, minimum entitlements and award/EA interpretation
* Strong understanding of labour-hire obligations, independent contracting and extended workforce models
* Demonstrated experience drafting and embedding compliance or governance frameworks
* Confidence managing high-risk matters with limited supervision
* Strong stakeholder engagement and influencing skills across operational and legal teams
* The ability to analyse complex fact patterns and translate them into clear advice
* Knowledge of the Transport Safety Act or similar transport regulatory frameworks (highly advantageous)
