About the Role
Rhythm and Cardiac Specialists is seeking a qualified and experienced Cardiac Technician (Electrocardiographic Technician) to join our Canberra team.
You will be responsible for providing essential cardiac diagnostic services that support the diagnosis, treatment, and ongoing management of patients with cardiovascular conditions.
Key Responsibilities
Conduct and record high-quality electrocardiograms (ECGs) for patients prior to consultations, ensuring proper equipment setup, patient preparation, accurate electrode placement, and completion of the test process.
Measure and record patients' vital signs, including blood pressure and weight, as part of routine cardiac assessments.
Set up, fit, and remove ambulatory monitoring devices such as Holter monitors, 24-hour blood pressure monitors, and Heart Bugs, ensuring accurate data capture and report uploads.
Support home and remote cardiac device monitoring, including reviewing and uploading alerts from implanted devices such as pacemakers, defibrillators, and loop recorders.
Maintain accurate and confidential patient records in accordance with clinic policies and assist cardiologists by preparing test results for interpretation.
Ensure compliance with infection control standards and perform regular checks on all cardiac testing equipment to maintain safety, hygiene, and optimal functionality.
Prepare patients and equipment for a variety of cardiac diagnostic tests, ensuring comfort, professionalism, and adherence to clinical protocols throughout the process.
Collaborate effectively with cardiologists, nurses, and administrative staff to deliver coordinated, patient-centered care.
Skills and Qualifications Required
* Bachelor's degree (or equivalent) in Health Science, Biomedical Science, Physiology or a related field
* Minimum 2 years' experience in cardiac diagnostics or ECG-based testing
* Knowledge of cardiac rhythm interpretation and monitoring systems
* Excellent attention to detail, communication, and patient care skills
* Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a clinical team
Desirable
* Previous experience in a hospital or cardiology practice
