The Opportunity
Our Energy and Sustainability Services Division is the world leader in energy procurement, sustainability strategy & transformation, and energy efficiency, with over 35 years' experience helping clients reduce their energy spend and achieve their business and sustainability goals. We have an exciting opportunity for a Client Manager to join our team on a permanent basis. Based in either Melbourne, Sydney or Brisbane, reporting to our Director of Client Management.
The Client Manager is responsible for owning the client relationship, building and growing our services to clients, and ensuring all services are delivered to a standard that meets client expectations. As an ambassador and representative of Schneider Electric, you should uphold our values in all external activities with clients and perform as a leader internally.
The role suits someone who thrives in a client-focused environment. You should be self-motivated with strong management and emotional intelligence skills. A general knowledge of energy, sustainability and efficiency themes is required. The successful candidate will work with multiple subject matter experts within the Sustainability Business to deliver services effectively to clients across Australia and APAC.
The day to day
At Schneider Electric, no two days are the same. Typical activities for the Client Manager include:
* Operate autonomously across a portfolio of clients and be accountable for renewals of contracts and cross-sell of services
* Develop strategies to ensure contract renewal and cross-sell success
* Serve as the central point of contact for internal queries related to service delivery for clients
* Act as an internal leader and develop a broad network across the Sustainability Business
* Conduct regular client meetings and presentations
* Prepare extensively for meetings and present to diverse stakeholders in one-on-one and one-to-many settings
* Directly responsible for ensuring client satisfaction and taking ownership of client problems
* Resolve conflicts that arise between large organizations when needed
* Discuss all aspects of Active Energy Management and related services
* Articulate the benefits of our services across Procurement, Data Management, Energy Efficiency, Renewables and Sustainability
* Assist in writing bespoke reports and delivering KPIs related to contracts and services
* Prepare proposals including cost coordination with multiple internal stakeholders and ensure margin capture
* Comfortable using data and software to support service delivery and thought leadership with clients
About You
We don't want to narrow the field; however, the skills typically needed include:
* Basic knowledge of the Australian Energy Industry
* Bachelor's Degree in Energy, Business, Finance, Engineering, Sustainability or related fields
* 3-8+ years of experience managing complex, high-stakes projects involving senior levels of large corporations
* Strong project management skills with the ability to track contract and project requirements across multiple initiatives
* Ability to initiate, establish, navigate, and nurture relationships with a wide variety of stakeholders; manage obstacles and conflicts in a fast-paced environment
* Strong written and verbal communication to convey analyses and ideas effectively
* High commitment to company vision, values and excellent customer service
* Business development experience in cross-selling services and retaining revenue
* Emotional intelligence and resilience
* Experience leading or supporting a team in energy, sustainability, efficiency or related areas within a large organization or consulting group
* Understanding of corporate sustainability and reporting within large, complex organizations
* Experience leveraging big data to identify cross-sell opportunities
* Experience directing project teams or managing people
* Previous experience in Australian or APAC energy markets
* Experience in energy or sustainability roles in a large organization
* Analytical, self-starter with strong attention to detail
* Proficient in Microsoft Office, especially Excel, Word and PowerPoint
* Fluency in English required; additional languages (Mandarin, Japanese, Korean or others) beneficial
* Comfortable presenting to groups on a regular basis
