Role Overview:We are seeking a Data Migration Analyst to support a large-scale government data transformation program. The role will focus on analysing data from existing systems and preparing it for migration into a modern enterprise platform.
You will work closely with business stakeholders and technical teams to understand how data is structured, used, and managed across systems. This includes conducting data discovery, analysing source systems, and documenting data requirements to support migration.
Key activities include developing source-to-target mappings, performing data profiling, and defining data quality and validation rules. You will also help identify data dependencies, risks, and issues that may impact the migration.
Strong communication skills are important, as you will engage with both technical and non-technical stakeholders to ensure a clear understanding of data and support migration decisions.This role offers the opportunity to contribute to a high-impact program, ensuring data is accurate, consistent, and ready for use in the target environment.
What We’re Looking For:Demonstrated experience (5+ years) in data analysis roles within large or complex ICT environments.Strong hands-on experience using SQL for data interrogation, analysis, and experience supporting data migration, data transformation, or system replacement programs.Experience in data discovery, source system analysis, and data profiling activities.Strong understanding of data entities, relationships, dependencies, and data flows across systems.Experience developing source-to-target mappings, including transformation logic and business rules.Ability to define and document data quality, validation, and reconciliation rules.Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, including root cause analysis of data issues.Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to work effectively with non-technical stakeholders.Strong documentation skills, producing clear artefacts for both technical and business audiences.Ability to manage sensitive information in line with government and governance requirements.Australian citizenship with the ability to obtain NV1 security clearance (required).
