About AMSANT

AMSANT is the peak body for Aboriginal community controlled health services in the Northern

Territory and advocates for equity in health, focusing on supporting the provision of high quality

comprehensive primary health care services for Aboriginal communities.

Contract Type: Full-Time, 38 hours/week

Contract Duration: Fixed Term to 30 June 2027

Work hours: Monday-Friday 08:00am - 04:30pm

Location: Darwin

Salary: $108, $121,936.19 p.a plus superannuation

Role description

The role supports AMSANT's commitment to strengthening Aboriginal leadership and workforce

development and coordinate leadership initiatives and provide high-level administrative support

to the workforce Aboriginal leadership support (WALS) manager and team.

Responsibilities

Aboriginal leadership coordination

* Promote, coordinate and support the development and implementation of the Aboriginal Leadership program
* Engage with Aboriginal leaders, community representatives, and stakeholders to promote culturally grounded leadership pathways.
* Assist in the development of culturally appropriate leadership resources and communications.
* Support the planning, coordination and delivery of leadership forums, workshops, and meeting initiatives.
* Work closely with workforce team and other AMSANT teams to progress identified workforce and leadership initiatives.
* In collaboration coordinate initiatives relating to Aboriginal leadership and governance within Aboriginal community-controlled health sector.

WALS program administration

* Provide comprehensive administrative support to the WALS manager and team as requested, including scheduling, travel coordination, and meeting logistics.
* Assist with documentation, reporting, and data management for WALS activities.
* Coordinate events, training sessions, and stakeholder engagement activities.
* Maintain accurate records and support effective internal communications within the WALS team.
* Participate in relevant AMSANT meetings as required

SELECTION CRITERIA (QUALIFICATIONS AND ATTRIBUTES)

Essential

* Demonstrated experience in program coordination and administrative support.
* Strong understanding of Aboriginal culture, leadership, and community dynamics.
* Excellent organisational and time management skills.
* Strong written and verbal communication skills.
* Proficiency in Microsoft Office and data systems.
* Ability to work independently and collaboratively.
* Ability to travel within the Northern Territory to regional and remote communities by road or light aircraft.

Desirable

* Identifies as Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander.
* Qualifications and experience in Aboriginal health, workforce development, or leadership programs.
* Familiarity with AMSANT's strategic priorities and community-controlled health sector.
