About Hazel Glen College
Hazel Glen College is located in the City of Whittlesea, one of Melbourne’s fastest growing municipalities. The college started in 2014 with 143 students and now serves 2,200 students and 250 staff across Kindergarten, Primary P‑6 and Secondary 7‑12. A Child Family Centre on site provides extended day care, playgroups, intervention services, a maternal health centre and other community services.
The college’s vision, "One College – Everyone Matters", guides all staff in fostering student skills, values and student agency. Our modern facilities and STEAM program create an innovative learning environment that challenges students to reach their full potential.
Selection Criteria
SC1 Demonstrated expert knowledge of the relevant curriculum and ability to lead and manage school priorities and literacy and numeracy instruction.
SC2 Ability to plan and implement high‑impact teaching strategies, support teachers in evaluating learning outcomes, and respond to student learning needs.
SC3 Proven ability to monitor and assess learning at class, cohort or whole‑school level, use data to inform improvement initiatives, and communicate growth to students and parents.
SC4 Exemplary interpersonal and leadership skills, fostering collaborative relationships with students, colleagues, parents and the broader community focused on learning, wellbeing and engagement.
SC5 Ability to model behaviours consistent with Department values, support colleagues in adopting these behaviours, reflect on practice, and contribute to whole‑school professional learning.
Role
Leading teachers are highly skilled classroom practitioners who undertake leadership and management positions to improve teaching performance and curriculum delivery. Responsibilities include coordinating staff, coaching, contributing to policy development and influencing school goals through the strategic plan.
Responsibilities
* Lead and manage whole‑school improvement initiatives aligned with the strategic plan and priorities.
* Oversee curriculum planning and delivery improvements.
* Provide professional development and develop individual and team development plans.
* Manage staff performance and conduct reviews.
* Deliver demonstration lessons.
* Develop assessment and reporting policies.
* Implement student welfare and discipline policies.
* Lead curriculum development in major learning areas and contribute to other areas.
* Handle general discipline matters beyond classroom teachers.
* Contribute to overall school leadership and management.
* Prepare proposals for school council consideration.
* Develop and manage the school code of conduct.
Who May Apply
Teachers registered or eligible for registration with the Victorian Institute of Teaching, qualified to teach and/or with demonstrated experience in the specified curriculum area(s).

Qualification Requirements
* Provisional or full registration approved by the Victorian Institute of Teaching.
* Completion of an Australian postgraduate level initial teaching program on or after 1 January 2024, accredited by a State or Territory Teacher Regulatory Authority.
* Graduation from a Victorian Initial Teacher Education (ITE) program after 1 July 2016 requires evidence of passing the LANTITE test (if part of the program).
