A job to be proud of:The Payroll Manager plays a pivotal leadership role in overseeing the end-to-end payroll function at St John WA.
This position is responsible for managing, supporting, and guiding the payroll team to ensure all payroll activities and associated reporting are processed accurately, on time and in compliance with legislation.
What you'll do:
Act as the payroll subject matter expert, providing authoritative guidance on payroll, superannuation, benefits, and compliance to internal stakeholders.
Manage and oversee the end-to-end payroll cycle for employees under awards, enterprise agreements, and individual contracts, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and compliance with all legislative requirements.
Ensure legislative compliance with awards, enterprise agreements, and individual contracts, and contractual requirements.
Maintain and update employee records and ensure payroll systems reflect current conditions, including changes to award rates, enterprise agreement entitlements, and regulatory updates
Lead and develop the payroll team, providing day-to-day support, coaching and professional development to foster a high-performing culture.
Ensure Payroll KPIs are consistently met with a high level of accuracy.
Drive standardisation and optimisation of payroll systems and processes, ensuring consistency and operational efficiency
Champion payroll system enhancements, including upgrades, automation, and workflow improvements to reduce manual effort and improve accuracy
Collaborate with Finance and HR to ensure data integrity and compliance.
Manage and resolve payroll issues promptly, including overpayments, pay advances, superannuation discrepancies, and termination payments.
Conduct regular payroll audits to verify accuracy of employee leave balances and entitlements.
Oversee complex payroll calculations, including back pay, terminations, redundancies, allowances, and overtime.
What you'll need:
Extensive Payroll experience and proven management experience within a large and complex organisation.
Relevant qualification in Payroll Services or Management (highly desirable).
7+ years of experience required in a payroll processing / management role.
Strong knowledge of current legislation, regulations, and industrial instruments related to salaries, superannuation, and salary packaging.
Demonstrated ability to lead, influence, and collaborate with stakeholders across the organisation.
Proven ability to coach, develop and share knowledge with others.
Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy.
Ability to identify and implement process improvements while maintaining governance.
Intermediate to advanced MS Excel skills.
