Overview

QByte Studios is an independent game studio based in Victoria, Australia. We’re currently working on Nanites, a third-person action-builder survival game inspired by Fortnite: Save the World, Lethal Company, and Days Gone.

Set in a gritty, post-apocalyptic world overrun by rogue nanotech, Nanites blends story, base-building, combat, and survival strategy. We’re a small, passionate team that values fun, innovation, and high-quality work.

Role Overview

We’re looking for a 3D Rigger to help breathe life into our characters and creatures. You’ll work closely with our 3D artists and animators to create rigs that are flexible, game-ready, and optimized for Unreal Engine 5.

This is a contractor role with fully flexible hours and work from home you can work from anywhere, anytime, as long as the work is strong and progress is consistent.

What You’ll Be Doing

- Rigging characters, creatures, and assets for a game-ready pipeline
- Creating clean, modular rigs in Blender (or transferable from your software of choice)
- Ensuring rigs are optimized for use in Unreal Engine 5
- Working with animators to make rigs animator-friendly and efficient
- Troubleshooting skinning, weighting, and deformation issues
- Solving technical rigging challenges and contributing to smooth production

What We’re Looking For

- Strong technical knowledge of 3D rigging
- Proficiency in Blender rigging (preferred) or strong rigging skills in other software with ability to adapt
- Experience rigging for video games (film riggers are welcome but must adapt to game-ready workflows)
- Solid understanding of skinning, deformation, controllers, and animation pipelines
- Ability to problem-solve and adapt rigs to changing needs
- Independent, reliable, and open communicator
- Willing to sign a contractor agreement (currently being finalized)

Bonus

- Experience exporting rigs/animations into Unreal Engine 5
- Familiarity with game optimization for rigs and assets
- Worked on other indie or mod projects
- Love for post-apocalyptic, sci-fi, or survival games

Compensation Model

We are currently in the pre-revenue phase. Everyone involved is part of a net revenue-sharing model : once Nanites generates income, all contributors who have meaningfully participated will receive a share of the revenue. We have contractor agreements in place to protect both parties.

We understand this model isn’t for everyone, and that’s totally okay.
