In this role you will be a key contributor to delivering complex capital works projects on behalf of Department of Housing and Public Works and other agencies that deliver positive economic and social outcomes.
What you will be doing:
• Fulfil all aspects of the role of Principal's Representative for major capital works projects delivered through the Queensland Government's Two Stage Managing Contractor form of contract and exercise the functions of the Principal's Representative under the Contract, in good faith.
• Undertake day-to-day administration of the Managing Contract as described in the Conditions of Contract, including the issuing of directions to the Managing Contractor.
• Review the progress of preparation of the documentation in accordance with the agreed design and the design management work to be carried out by the Managing Contractor.
• Ensure that the Managing Contractor establishes a project reporting system in accordance with the conditions of contract to report monthly on progress, expenditure, design, and construction standards on all related issues.
• Manage Retention Monies and Securities, and check that materials and standards of workmanship, trade specifications and other documents are fit for purpose; and are in accordance with the Design.
• Check that the subcontractor tender process is properly administered in accordance with the Conditions of Contract and supported with documentation and with a process for consistently addressing enquiries/RFI's (Request for Information) from sub-contract tenderers.
• Approval or otherwise of the Managing Contractor's programme in accordance with the Conditions of Contract, monitoring the progress against the design, documentation and construction programmes prepared by consultants and contractors.
• Process contractual claims such as Progress variations, Latent Conditions, Notices of Delay and Extension of Time Claims.
• Liaise with the Managing Contractor in the response to RFI's, testing and inspections of the Works, review of sub-trade tenders etc.
• Check that required certification of compliance of construction documents is received from consultants and that all "Work as Executed" drawings and Operation and Maintenance manuals are provided as required under the contract and ensure that during the defects liability period, all defects and outstanding matters are resolved.
