Primary objective
The Project Consultant, Career Pathways supports the development, management and delivery of career pathways initiatives including
onboarding of all employees, professional growth processes and resources, and early in career programs.
Context statement
Career Pathways is a team within the Career Development branch of the School Leadership, Culture and Care division. The team leads
strategic development and implementation of initiatives designed to retain a high-quality education workforce where all employees are
set up for success in their new roles and supported to grow as experts.
Key duties and responsibilities
1. Design, manage and contribute to the implementation and evaluation of career pathways projects, programs and initiatives.
2. Establish, maintain and support the development of effective collaborative partnerships and networks with key stakeholders at all
levels to ensure efficient and effective engagement on program related matters.
3. Research, analyse and prepare recommendations on current and emerging workforce development issues including professional
growth processes and reporting requirements.
4. Prepare and provide strategic and practical evidence-informed advice on submissions, briefings, reports and correspondence for
department executives and the Minister.
1. Assist with review and maintenance of online content, resources and sites in accordance with established strategies and practices.
2. Co-ordinate information collation, analysis and reporting to ensure accurate and reliable program and performance information.
Selection criteria
Essential
1. Well-developed organisational skills including the ability to work independently, respond flexibly to changing priorities and deliver
outcomes within tight deadlines.
2. Demonstrated sound judgement in evidenced-based decision making and problem solving.
1. Demonstrated ability to plan and manage programs including maintenance of governance, data capture and analysis, and reporting
requirements.
4. Highly developed oral and written communication skills, with the ability to tailor key messages for different purposes and audiences.
5. Strong interpersonal skills including skills in networking, stakeholder engagement and influencing.
6. Knowledge of a range of business management systems and processes including procurement.
7. Demonstrated ability to monitor external national and local trends on educational matters and to effectively influence current policies
and services.
Desirable
1. Knowledge of education systems and the strategic directions and objectives of the Department of Education and Training and the
Northern Territory Government.
2. Knowledge and understanding of government and departmental processes including preparing high level reports, discussion papers
and correspondence including executive briefings and Ministerial.
1. Understanding of cross-cultural issues and sensitivities in both urban and remote contexts.
2. Experience using graphic and/or publishing programs such as Photoshop, InDesign or Illustrator.
