A leading defence engineering organisationsupporting major Royal Australian Navy platforms is seeking a Senior Electrical Engineer to join its Sydney‐based team. The organisation operates within a long‐term design support and sustainment program, deliveringcomplex electrical and control systems solutions across in‐service naval vessels.
Your new role
his role focuses onthe design, integration and assurance of shipboard electrical and controlsystems, working closely with multidisciplinary engineering teams and Defencestakeholders.
Key responsibilitiesinclude:
1. Delivering electrical and control systemsengineering for naval vessels using robust systemsengineering processes
2. Providingtechnical expertise across:
3. Electricalplant (generators, electric motors)
* Powerdistribution systems, protection devices and switchboards
* Electricalcabling and installation systems
* Powerconversion equipment and batteries
* Shiplighting systems
* IntegratedPlatform Management Systems (IPMS)
* Alarmand warning systems
4. Undertaking technical investigations, rootcause analysis and solution development
5. Developingengineering designs to integrate electrical and control systems into shipplatforms
6. Producing high‐quality technicalreports and engineering documentation in accordance with customer and regulatory standards
7. Coordinating engineering tasks from conceptthrough to delivery, including scheduling andstakeholder engagement
8. Participating in design coordination anddesign review meetings with internal teams and Defencerepresentatives
9. Supportingonboard installation activities, including scopes of work, work packages andtest procedures
10. Liaisingwith clients, internal stakeholders and subcontractors
11. Providing mentoring and technical guidance to junior engineers
12. Operatingin accordance with WHS, environmental and quality requirements within aregulated defence environment
What you'll need to succeed
13. A Bachelor's degree in ElectricalEngineering
14. Minimum 8 years' experience as a professional electrical engineer
15. Experience working within a defence,maritime or heavy industrial environment
16. Proven experience with naval ship electrical and control systems, including medium‐voltage powerdesign and analysis (up to 440VAC)
17. Strong understanding of power distribution,protection, IPMS and shipboard electrical systems
18. Experience working to classification societyrules, IMO and relevant Australian Standards
19. Ability to read and interpret electricalP&IDs, single line diagrams and schematics
20. Experience using CAD tools such as AutoCAD or MicroStation
21. Strongcommunication and stakeholder engagement skills
22. Ability to work autonomously, manage competingpriorities and deliver in high‐pressure environments
23. Eligibility to obtain and maintain NV1security clearance
