Educational Leader and Assistant Director – Bendigo East
Join a Leadership Team That Leads Differently
At Village Early Education, we believe it takes a village to raise a child — and to grow educators too. Our Community Leader (Assistant Director and Educational Leader) role is a unique and rewarding opportunity to make a genuine impact on children, families, and educators every day.
As one of two Community Leaders at each centre, you’ll work alongside a Centre Manager to form a collaborative leadership trio. Together, you will inspire, mentor and support a passionate team of educators and lead the delivery of high‑quality education and care.
About the Role
As a Community Leader (Assistant Director and Educational Leader), you will:
- Lead with purpose as both an Assistant Director and Educational Leader.
- Collaborate with the Centre Manager and fellow Community Leader to form a strong, aligned leadership team.
- Champion the development and implementation of inspiring, child‑centred educational programs.
- Provide day‑to‑day operational support including rostering, compliance, and family engagement.
- Mentor and support educators through reflective practice, coaching, and professional growth plans.
- Drive continuous improvement through the lens of the National Quality Framework (NQF).
- Build strong partnerships with families and the broader community to support each child’s learning journey.
A Balanced Role
While each service’s needs may vary, the Community Leader position is primarily a minimum of 60% off the floor (4‑5 hours per day), giving you dedicated time to focus on leadership, programming, compliance, collaboration with fellow leadership team and educator support. The remainder of your time may involve stepping into the learning environments to provide hands‑on guidance, mentoring and support when needed.
About You
You are an experienced early childhood professional who thrives in a collaborative environment. You are passionate about pedagogy and educator development, and ready to take the next step in your leadership journey.
The ideal candidate will bring:
- A Diploma or Bachelor’s Degree in Early Childhood Education (or ACECQA‑approved equivalent).
- Demonstrated experience in a leadership, 2IC, or Educational Leader role.
- Deep understanding of the EYLF, NQS, and pedagogical leadership.
- Strong communication, coaching, and team‑building skills.
- A commitment to inclusive, child‑led learning and community‑driven education.
Why join our Village?
- A unique leadership structure that fosters shared responsibility and meaningful collaboration.
- Ongoing professional development and leadership coaching.
- Staff wellbeing initiatives and versatile working arrangements.
- Opportunities to grow across our network of services.
- Employee discount on childcare fees.
- A warm, welcoming culture where your ideas and contributions are truly valued.
All applications must include a full resume and cover letter, addressing the above criteria. Suitable applicants will be contacted to arrange an interview.
