The Shire of Ashburton serves communities across a vast region in the Pilbara, Western Australia. Economically, the Shire is vital to the Pilbara and Western Australia, with a gross regional product of $35.9 billion. Key industries include iron ore mining, oil and gas production and construction. The region is also renowned for its rugged, ancient landscape and stunning coastlines, attracting many tourists. Major population centres include the administrative hub of Tom Price along with the towns of Onslow, Pannawonica and Paraburdoo. The Shire also encompasses the Aboriginal communities of Bindi Bindi, Wakathuni, Bellary, Youngaleena and Ngurawaana. Responsibilities
* Create and deliver values-driven organisational culture, supported by robust strategy and performance framework.
* Provide strategic leadership and governance oversight across planning and development, regulatory and compliance services, aviation operations, business and economic development, media and communications, and emergency management.
* Lead and inspire a high performing team to deliver organisational objectives and high quality services in alignment with Council's strategic priorities, policies and legislative requirements.
Qualifications
* Tertiary qualification in Urban and Regional Planning, Environmental Health, Public Administration or a related discipline.
* Extensive senior management experience within local government or a similarly regulated public sector environment.
* Demonstrated experience leading high risk or safety critical operations.
* Post graduate qualifications highly regarded.
Remuneration
A highly competitive remuneration package commensurate with the significance of the role is on offer. This will include a negotiable cash component ranging from $228,000 to $246,983 aligned with qualifications and experience, together with generous leave entitlements, up to 18% superannuation (conditional), company provided vehicle and housing, relocation and a suite of additional non cash benefits.
