About the Opportunity
As the Chef/Catering Manager, you will be responsible for the day-to-day operations of the kitchen, leading a small team of dedicated staff to deliver meals that are nutritious, flavoursome, and tailored to residents' clinical needs and personal preferences. You will work closely with nursing and lifestyle teams to create a warm and homelike dining experience that enhances residents' overall quality of life.
Key Responsibilities
* Supervising and mentoring kitchen and catering personnel to ensure a positive, safe, and resident-focused culture
* Planning and delivering seasonal menus in consultation with a qualified dietitian
* Preparing meals that cater to specific dietary requirements, including texture-modified and high-energy high-protein (HEHP) diets
* Ensuring all food is prepared and served in compliance with food safety standards and HACCP protocols
* Monitoring kitchen operations to meet compliance with aged care legislation and the Aged Care Quality Standards
* Managing food budgets and maintaining cost efficiency without compromising quality
* Engaging with residents and families to incorporate feedback and preferences into menu planning
* Maintaining accurate records related to food safety, audits, stock control, and dietary needs
Skills & Experience
You are a qualified chef with strong leadership skills and a deep appreciation for the role food plays in resident care and comfort. You take pride in creating meals that bring joy, and you thrive in a collaborative, team-oriented environment.
You will bring:
* Certificate IV in Commercial Cookery
* Food Safety Supervisor certification (required)
* A minimum of 2 years' experience in a similar role, ideally in aged care, health care, or institutional catering
* Strong understanding of nutrition for older adults, including IDDSI standards and special diet management
* Excellent communication and team leadership skills
* A resident-first mindset and a commitment to service quality
* Experience working within compliance frameworks and food safety programs
