Chief Mechanical Design Engineer Position Overview
Job Title: Chief Mechanical Design Engineer
Company Overview: We are partnering with an industry leader in excavator and skid steer attachments, fixed rockbreaker boom systems, and automation solutions for the WA mining and construction sector.
As a Chief Mechanical Design Engineer, you will be working on providing technical and engineering support to a key client while collaborating with a skilled in-house engineering team. The role involves working both at the company office and at a client's engineering office in Perth.
Key Responsibilities:
* Provide technical advice and engineering support to a major client, both on-site and remotely.
* Collaborate with in-house engineers and designers to safely introduce new technologies at client sites.
* Gather and act on customer feedback to identify opportunities for improvement.
* Support design tasks and ensure accurate documentation and timely completion.
* Assess equipment during re-builds and suggest cost-effective improvements.
* Continuously refine systems and methods for efficient service delivery.
* Attend sales, engineering, and project meetings as required.
* Execute design activities following company guidelines, standards, and specifications.
* Assist in creating and improving manuals, work packs, commissioning procedures, and training materials.
* Provide guidance and training to Project Management, Sales, Estimating, and Workshop teams.
* Coordinate and attend client update meetings and initiate Engineering Change Requests as needed.
Essential Skills and Experience:
* Minimum 6 years' experience in mechanical engineering design or project engineering within mining or heavy industry.
* Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Project.
* Strong organizational, communication, interpersonal, and presentation skills.
* Experience in hydraulic equipment design and manufacture.
* Background in Reliability Engineering.
