About the Role
Cairns and Hinterland Hospital and Health Service is seeking experienced and passionate Consultant Psychiatrists to join its expanding Mental Health and Alcohol, Tobacco and Other Drugs Service (MHATODS). We welcome applications from psychiatrists across all subspecialties, with a particular interest in Child and Youth Mental Health and Rural and Remote Psychiatry.
Key responsibilities include :
Providing high-quality psychiatric care in either community or inpatient settings
Supporting service delivery across diverse populations, including First Nations communities and remote regions
Leading multidisciplinary teams and contributing to clinical governance
Supervising junior medical staff and participating in education and training
Promoting culturally safe, trauma-informed, and recovery-oriented care

This Hospital and Health Service includes nine hospitals, 11 primary health sites and nine community health centres.
