Primary objective
Under the direction of the Manager Learning and Development Command - M-LDC facilitate the development and delivery of accredited
and non-accredited Emergency, Hazard Management and Operational training, maintenance of skills and exercise programs, to
volunteers and staff of the Northern Territory Emergency Service and other Government and support agencies.
Key duties and responsibilities
1. Research, design, develop, manage, deliver and evaluate emergency, hazard management and operational training and exercises to
NTES staff and volunteers, government and non-government agencies and supporting organisations.
2. Develop and maintain effective collaborative partnerships with internal and external stakeholders to support the achievement of
business objectives.
3. Provide professional educational advice, guidance and assistance to management and assist and guide instructional staff in the
design and development of emergency, hazard management and operational training and assessment materials
4. Contribute to the emergency and hazard management capability in the NT through development and maintenance of instructional
staff accreditation and endorsement processes
5. Perform operational duties in support of emergency events and provide operational support to the Chief Officer NTES as required
6. Represent NTES on National or Territory committees as nominated
Selection criteria
Essential
1. Demonstrated experience in instructional design, development, delivery, implementation and evaluation of public safety
training/educational programs applying adult learning theory principles.
2. Extensive knowledge and experience in a volunteer emergency service and/or hazard management organisation with ability to
supervise and mentor volunteers and staff in an operational environment.
3. Highly developed project and resource management and reporting skills with the ability to risk manage the implementation and
monitoring phases of projects.
4. Highly developed verbal and written communication, interpersonal skills with the ability to liaise, negotiate and influence at all levels,
including in the delivery of training material to small groups.
5. High level of self-motivation, with the ability to organise own work priorities and work within tight timeframes to ensure deadlines
are met.
6. Current manual NT Drivers licence and the ability to undertake intra-Territory travel.
Desirable
1. Qualifications in emergency management, training and assessment, adult education/learning, human resource development or
equivalent,
1. Broad competency-based training and assessment experience.
2. Australasian Inter-service Incident Management System (AIIMS) Level 2 Qualifications.
3. Certificate III Public Safety SES qualifications.
