Position Details THE ROLE The Senior Policy Officer reports to the Manager of Strategic Policy to provide strategic advice to strengthen departmental policy to align with the Victorian government's commitment to the Victorian Aboriginal Affairs Framework, Self Determination Reform Framework, Closing the Gap, Treaty and Yoorrook. The position works with Aboriginal community and stakeholders to understand the changing needs of the Victorian Aboriginal community and actively works collaboratively across DFFH program areas across the state ensuring policy meets the needs of the Victorian Aboriginal community. The position will require a strong knowledge of Aboriginal culture and principles of self-determination, as well a strong understanding of public policy and the political environment in relation to Aboriginal communities. ACCOUNTABILITIES INCLUDE In partnership with the Victorian Aboriginal community develop Aboriginal policy that meet government and departmental objectives within resourcing, timeline and budget parameters. Maintain an understanding of the departments policy response and alignment to the Victorian government's Aboriginal agreements and frameworks including the Victorian Aboriginal Affairs Framework, Self Determination Reform Framework, Closing the Gap, Treaty and Yoorrook.
