What you'll be doing
- The Staff Specialist will provide high quality diagnostic, consultative, procedural and on-call specialty services in Anatomical Pathology, and will participate in teaching, research, quality improvement and administrative activities commensurate with the Staff Specialists (State) Award.
- The primary duties of the Staff Specialist will be performing perinatal autopsies as well as reporting surgical specimens from paediatric patients.
- Perinatal autopsies will include fetuses, stillborn infants and neonates with their placentas. The Staff Specialist will provide accurate and detailed reports with insight into potential causes of complications during pregnancy and/or birth.
- Paediatric surgical specimens include but are not limited to neoplasm, infection, inflammatory and genetic disorders.
- The Staff Specialist will also participate in some of the adult pathology specialties such as GIT, breast and non-melanoma skin.
- The Staff Specialist will collaborate with obstetricians, midwives, neonatologists, and paediatric teams including surgical, medical and oncology to provide comprehensive diagnostic support.
- The Staff Specialist will participate in educational, training and quality assurance programs and activities.
