ABOUT Making Waves Foundation – MWF
MWF is a not-for-profit organisation that acts as a catalyst for change in the lives of children and adults with disabilities, their carers and at-risk youth. MWF began in 1994, when it was formerly known as Sailors with Disability but has since been rebranded to include support for people experiencing disadvantage or disengagement.
MWF's national office is in Sydney, where a significant number of programs operate, however, we have a permanent presence in Melbourne and Newcastle, and run outreach programs in Hobart, Southport, Mackay, Coffs Harbor and Rosslyn Bay annually. Our programs deliver new and positive experiences to around 5000 participants annually.
MWF is currently mainly funded by donations and new initiatives are directed to broadening income sources through events and commercialising use of our assets. We are supported by approximately 300 members, half of whom are active volunteers who contribute more than 5000 hours of service a year.
