**Independent Risk Oversight Role**
We are seeking a professional and skilled community member to join our Audit and Risk Committee. The committee operates under Sections 53 and 54 of the Local Government Act.
The role is expected to commence in March and will continue for up to three years. Meetings are held quarterly at Council's offices or via Teams. The Committee Charter details full responsibilities of the Committee and is available here.
As an independent risk oversight member, you will have an impact on the continual improvement of our dynamic small rural council. Your key responsibilities include:
* Providing oversight of our governance, risk management and internal control practices
* Monitoring compliance with Council policies and procedures
* Monitoring financial and performance reporting
* Overseeing internal and external audit functions
To succeed in this role, you will have extensive experience in strategic and operational risk management, auditing, financial management, compliance, data governance and/or cybersecurity. You will also have experience and understanding of local government or public sector management, including local government accountability frameworks and compliance requirements.
