We currently have a full-time opportunity for an experienced Grounds and Gardens Person. Join our Health and Education team to maintain and improve the landscaped areas, garden beds, hard landscaping and general grounds of the Sunshine Coast University Hospital.
The Grounds and Gardens person is responsible for maintaining a professionally presented and safe environment for our staff and customers. Reporting to the Building Services Supervisor, you'll help deliver high-quality outcomes that support our essential services.
The role is Monday to Friday 7am – 3pm with potential overtime available
What You'll Do (key responsibilities)
This role offers a broad scope, with key responsibilities including:
* General grounds maintenance (Mowing, Brush cutting; Edging; Pruning; Weed)
* Maintain and improve the landscaped areas, garden beds, hard landscaping
* Ensure all work complies with hospital safety standards, infection control, and regulatory requirements. Ensure safe use, storage, and disposal of paints, solvents, and chemicals. Comply with Occupational Health & Safety (OHS) standards.
* Maintain logs of work completed, materials used, and areas serviced. Report supply needs and assist with inventory management
What You'll Bring (experience required)
* Certificate II in Horticulture or equivalent
* Weed Spraying ACDC license (desirable)
* Open driver's license
* Previous experience in Landscaping or a similar Ground person role
* Demonstrated ability to maintain grounds and gardens to a high-quality standard
* Demonstrated ability to use hand and powered tools in a safe manner
* Knowledge of workplace health and safety practices
* Sound knowledge of plants on site and their cultural requirements
* Knowledge of chemical use, storage and handling requirements
* Knowledge of personal protective equipment (PPE)
* Sound written and verbal communication skills
* Strong customer service focus – prioritising the needs of customers and acts with customers in mind
* Ability to communicate clearly, openly and effectively with fellow workers, supervisors and all stakeholders
* Ability to work as part of a team and individually by developing good working relationships with team members and enjoys the company of others
