Bankwest's Technology Division develops and executes all technical change within the organisation ensuring the leverage of technology to deliver the Bankwest strategy. The Division works on a wide variety of technologies and projects with the support of a dedicated team in an Agile methodology. Our team is responsible for the world-leading application of technology and operations across every aspect of the bank – from product platforms for our customers, to essential tools within our business.
As a Staff Engineer, you'll be part of the Core Banking team, responsible for leading, promoting continuous improvement, developing technical roadmaps, and improving the quality of technical solutions by implementing industry best practises. You'll also work closely with other technical leaders and product owners to document new changes and drive various initiatives. It will be key that you are able communicate well with the rest of the squad members, have a strong risk mindset in ensuring that appropriate security controls are implemented and play a significant mentoring role in providing technical assistance to the engineers in the team, while being exposed to some interesting challenges as we transition to the cloud.
We're interested in hearing from people who:
Have demonstrated experience in large and complex enterprise environments, preferably in banking & financial services, or similar large enterprise environments
Can work independently and drive a culture where quality, excellence and openness are championed
Provides technical governance and guidance throughout the complete solution delivery lifecycle
Are passionate about learning new tools and technologies and are constantly thinking outside the box
Designs, documents, and implements solutions to distribute source system data via bulk interfaces
Produces high-quality technical solutions that are sustainable by utilizing approved delivery frameworks and using industry best practices
Contributes to complex delivery planning by providing guidance and oversight to ensure that technical deliveries are aligned with engineering direction and strategy
Ability to constructively challenge the status quo while influencing stakeholders at various levels
Collaborates with peers and helps grow capabilities within the squad and across the crew
Tech Skills:
We use a broad range of tools, languages, and frameworks. We don't expect you to know them all but experience or exposure with some of these will set you up for success in this team:
Solid hands-on experience with Mainframe, PL1, DB2 as well as knowledge of various modern technologies including mainframe modernisation
Sound knowledge of REST APIs including creation of Open API specifications
Understanding of large-scale distributed systems, Microservices, and Rest API Integration
Working knowledge of Cloud technology – AWS preferred
Understanding of DevSecOps tooling and practices
Any experience with the following would be great – AI & Machine learning
