About the Role
JCPRP Caseworkers assess safety and risk to children and young people within a multi-disciplinary service model. We are seeking experienced child protection Caseworkers with excellent analytical, assessment, and communication skills.
Applicants must demonstrate strong attention to detail, highly developed critical thinking, problem-solving skills, and excellent interpersonal and self-management skills.
A Day in the Life of a JCPR Child Protection Caseworker
* Undertake assessments to identify and address safety and risk concerns for children and young people within a multi-disciplinary program.
* Engage in collaborative, child-focused practice that respects the culture and context of each child, young person, and their family.
* Source timely, accurate, and comprehensive information to make evidence-based decisions aligned with the safety, welfare, and wellbeing of children and young people.
* Model ethical and responsive casework that adapts to the changing needs of children, young people, and families.
* Build relationships within the program, practice, and legislative frameworks to promote positive change in families.
* Develop and maintain networks with partner agencies and stakeholders to deliver coordinated services.
* Participate in continuous learning and professional development to keep skills current.
* Maintain accurate client records for reporting and information sharing.
* Have difficult conversations to mitigate risks and promote safety and wellbeing.
* Initiate actions in the Children’s Court when necessary to ensure safety and wellbeing.
What We’re Looking For
Working with vulnerable children, young people, and families is challenging but rewarding. To succeed as a JCPR Caseworker, you need to be confident, curious, and resilient. The essential requirements include:
* Minimum of 2 years' frontline experience in statutory child protection or investigation services.
* Completed or final semester of a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Social Work, Social Science, or Welfare, with practical experience. (Final semester students cannot commence duty until degree completion.)
* Other related degrees considered if you demonstrate relevant knowledge and experience.
* Strong connection to Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander communities is highly regarded.
* Excellent verbal and written communication skills and ability to build positive relationships.
* Valid driver’s license (P1 or above).
* Paid working with children clearance.
