The Opportunity
KBR are seeking an experienced Certification Engineer to support the delivery of the Certification Assurance Program within the Amphibious Combat and Support Capability Life Cycle Manager (ACS CLCM) program of work.
In this role, you will work under limited direction to coordinate certification requirements across engineering and sustainment activities, ensuring compliance with Defence, Navy, statutory and classification standards. You will provide trusted technical guidance to ensure all engineering activities align with the approved Certification Basis for supported maritime platforms.
This is a key role within a multidisciplinary, integrated team supporting Defence maritime capability.
Responsibilities
* Coordinate, manage and report on certification assurance across sustainment engineering and maintenance activities.
* Ensure certification requirements comply with Defence and Navy policies, statutory regulations and classification society rules.
* Support the management of Certification Sets for equipment and materials.
* Provide trusted advice to the ACSSPO Principal Engineer on Certification Basis issues and engineering decisions.
* Assess deviations, waivers and associated risk assessments; recommend authorised changes to the Certification Basis.
* Work collaboratively with the Systems Safety Lead on certification‑related safety and statutory matters.
* Review engineering deliverables across the systems engineering lifecycle for compliance with Certification Basis requirements.
* Assist with planning and participating in witness points during Class Society periodic surveys (Annual, Continuous Machinery, Continuous Hull).
* Track and manage Conditions of Class and Surveyor Observations and develop remediation plans.
* Liaise with Defence, Navy, industry stakeholders and classification societies on certification matters.
* Contribute to the development and continuous improvement of ACSSPO and CLCM certification processes and plans.
* Provide support and guidance on DOORS utilisation and certification requirements.
* Maintain compliance with all mandatory training, engineering policy and safe working practices.
Essential
As the ideal candidate you will bring:
* Bachelor's degree in Engineering, or related field (or equivalent experience coupled with relevant qualifications).
* Average of 6 to 10 years' experience in a Defence or related technical industry (CASG/Defence/Industry experience).
* Requires a minimum 4 years' expertise in Mechanical or Naval Architect engineering discipline and a broad awareness of systems engineering.
* Hold, or be eligible for, membership of a recognised professional body and registration as Chartered Engineer.
Desirable
* Experience in Certification Management and/or Certification Basis for Maritime Assets.
* Experience in managing requirements in DOORS.
All candidates will be required to hold and maintain an active Baseline Defence Security Clearance.
