Electrical Engineer & Automation Maintenance Specialist

We are seeking a highly motivated and skilled Electrical Engineer & Automation Maintenance Specialist to join our dynamic team on a full time basis.
This role is ideal for a professional with a robust background in electrical engineering, combined with extensive hands-on experience in automation, mechanical, and industrial maintenance. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring the reliability, efficiency, and optimal performance of our critical systems through comprehensive preventative, predictive, and corrective maintenance strategies.
Key Responsibilities:
- Electrical Engineering & System Analysis: Interpret and analyze electrical schematics, engineering drawings, and technical specifications for complex systems. Diagnose and troubleshoot electrical, electronic, and control system faults. Apply electrical engineering principles to identify root causes of failures and implement effective solutions.
- Automation & Control Systems Maintenance: Perform maintenance and repair on automated systems, including those with embedded digital systems and integrated safety protocols. Program microcontrollers and embedded components, ensuring proper firmware functionality.
- Mechanical & Industrial Maintenance: Execute preventative, predictive, and corrective maintenance on a diverse range of industrial Robotic equipment and machinery. Perform mechanical overhauls, including the replacement of worn or damaged components such as couplings, bearings, mounts, and shafts.
- Preventative, Predictive & Corrective Maintenance: Develop and implement preventative maintenance schedules to minimize downtime and extend equipment lifespan. Utilize diagnostic tools and data to anticipate potential failures and implement predictive maintenance strategies.
- Safety & Compliance: Strictly adhere to safety procedures, including lockout/tagout protocols, manual handling practices, and the use of personal protective equipment (PPE). Ensure all maintenance activities comply with relevant industry standards, quality controls (e.g., ISO standards), and safety regulations.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field.
- Technologist in Industrial Maintenance certification is highly desirable.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in industrial maintenance, with a solid focus on electrical, electronic, mechanical, and automation systems.
- Proven experience with preventative, predictive, and corrective maintenance methodologies.
- Proficiency in reading and interpreting electrical schematics, electronic diagrams, and mechanical drawings.
- Skilled in the use of a wide range of electrical, mechanical, pneumatic, hydraulic, and electronic tools and test equipment.
- Experience with embedded systems programming and device flashing.
- Strong analytical and fault-finding skills with complex electromechanical systems.
- High adaptability to complex systems and a proven ability to work effectively in multidisciplinary teams.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Strong commitment to safety, precision, and reliability in all maintenance activities.
- Willingness to relocate as required.
- Experience with heavy industrial equipment and automation.
- Knowledge of conformal coating processes and PCB protection techniques.
- Experience with CAD software (AutoCAD, SolidWorks, Inventor) for interpreting technical drawings.
- Forklift and Work at Heights certification.
Base annual salary in the range of AUD $80,000 to AUD $90,000 (dependent on experience)
