Responsibilities
The role is for an experienced GP in Emergency Medicine to join the medical team in the Emergency Department. Responsibilities and duties include delivering high-quality patient care in a rural hospital setting and contributing to clinical governance and patient safety in accordance with NSW Health policies.
Selection Criteria
- Holds registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA). Eligible for registration with the Medical Board of Australia as a Specialist, General Practice (FRACGP or FACRRM) or training towards specialist or additional qualifications for Emergency Medicine (e.g., Fellowship in General Practice or ACEM Emergency Medicine Diploma).
- Significant senior experience relevant to Emergency Medicine practice and evidence of competence in skills relevant to Australian rural hospital practice, including trauma and emergency scenarios.
- Demonstrated effective clinical communication through information technology and written, verbal and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team, build collaborative partnerships and provide leadership of a team.
- Experience, understanding and commitment to patient safety and clinical governance.
- Commitment to undergraduate and postgraduate teaching of medical, nursing and allied health professionals and to continuing self-education, research and quality improvement.
- Commitment to NSW Health CORE values and SNSWLHD Values, including equitable medical rostering with evenings, nights and weekend shifts.
- Additional qualifications in Emergency Medicine are desirable.

This is a Category ‘A’ position. Please read NSW Health policy directive PD2024_015. All recent employees must comply with the policy. OASV requirements include proof of vaccination against influenza and are compulsory for NSW Staff entering Residential Aged Care Facilities or working in NSW Health RACFs.
