About the role
Quality Beekeeping Supplies (QBS) is a specialist beekeeping supply and manufacturing business. We are seeking an experienced Retail Manager (General) to take full day-to-day responsibility for the retail store, warehouse and customer operations.
This is a demanding, highly autonomous leadership role.The Directors provide strategic and financial oversight but are not involved in daily management. You will be the ultimate operational decision‑maker on site, responsible for the full commercial and operational performance of the retail store, wholesale operation and warehouse.
Key responsibilities
Retail & customer operations
* Lead the daily retail function (in-store and online) and ensure high customer service standards
* Provide specialised product advice on beekeeping equipment and machinery
* Oversee after-sales support, warranty enquiries and customer follow-up
Inventory & warehouse management
* Manage end-to-end stock control, including quality checks, warehousing, dispatch and stocktakes
* Coordinate with suppliers and freight partners to maintain stock availability
* Ensure accurate picking, packing and order fulfilment for retail and wholesale customers
People leadership
* Supervise, train and roster retail, warehouse and after-sales staff
* Conduct onboarding, performance discussions and development planning
Compliance & governance
* Ensure compliance with WHS, retail, workplace relations and company procedures
* Maintain accurate reporting, cash handling and internal audit standards
Machinery & product oversight (theoretical level)
(No mechanical or manufacturing duties required)
* Oversee the beekeeping machinery product category and ensure staff provide accurate product guidance
* Maintain strong theoretical knowledge of European industrial beekeeping machinery and equipment
* Liaise with European suppliers and technical partners regarding product information, demonstrations and training
* Supervise manufacturing-area safety and workflow at a managerial level (trained technical staff operate the machinery)
Essential skills & experienceRetail leadership
* Minimum 5 years' experience in retail or operations management
* Proven ability to run a busy store autonomously with full responsibility for daily operations
* Strong background in inventory management, warehousing and customer service
* Experience supervising teams, recruitment, rostering and performance management
* Strong compliance understanding (WHS, retail laws, workplace relations)
* Solid computer skills (POS, stock systems, Excel/ERP)
Specialist machinery & product knowledge
* Minimum 5 years' experience with industrial beekeeping machinery and equipment sales, preferably European-made
* Ability to explain high-capacity machinery used in commercial apiaries, including:
* 60/80/100/120-frame extractors
* Uncapping machines
* Deboxers
* Wax melters & wax-processing line concepts
* Pumps & drive systems (e.g. INVT, WEG)
* Strong product knowledge to guide customers
* Understanding of machinery integration within commercial beekeeping workflows
Desirable
* Experience in beekeeping supplies, hardware and machinery
* Practical beekeeping insight
* SME environment experience where the manager is the onsite authority

Pay: $78,000.00 – $85,000.00 per year
