Job Title: Explosive Ordnance Engineering Consultant
About the Role
We are seeking a highly skilled Explosive Ordnance Engineering Consultant to join our team. As an expert in guided weapon systems and explosive ordnance, you will be responsible for providing consultancy advice and technical solutions in a project setting.
The ideal candidate will have a strong background in engineering with a focus on defence acquisition or sustainment projects. Experience with ASDEFCON principles, certification/integration activities, and EO/weapons-related Land, Sea, and Air operations is also essential.
Key Responsibilities
1. Collaborate with stakeholders from Defence Organisations (DOS), Defence Science and Technology (DST) and Guided Weapons Explosives Ordnance (GWEO) manufacturing to develop understanding of defence organisational structure.
2. Support or generate opportunities for department collaboration with different stakeholders through workshops or similar within Australia.
3. Review and develop engineering documentation.
4. Provide training via short engineering presentations on subject areas of value.
5. Answer direct technical questions from engineers across the department regarding energetic materials, all-up systems, common failure modes, and de-risking/testing options.
6. Diffuse technical material from DOS, DST and journals to engineers within GWEO systems.
7. Provide mentoring and task planning for junior/graduate engineers.
8. Prepare material for broad audiences through conference papers or equivalent publications.
Requirements
* An Engineering degree in a suitable field with at least 2 years relevant experience, or a technical/trade background with 8+ years of demonstrable Defence experience.
* Elevated professional knowledge of guided weapon systems and/or Explosive Ordnance.
* Experience in engineering artefact development and review activities.
* High knowledge of applicable weapon systems, equipment, or technology.
* Experience using ASDEFCON principles.
* Experience supporting defence acquisition or sustainment projects.
* Knowledge of guided weapons / munitions and defence technical regulatory frameworks (preferably Guided weapons / EO).
* Explosive ordnance, materiel management, technical management.
* Certification/integration activities, and EO/weapons-related Land, Sea, and Air operations experience.
Desirable Skills
* Experience supporting defence acquisition or sustainment projects.
* Guided weapons / munitions.
* Defence technical regulatory frameworks (preferably Guided weapons / EO).
