Civil Engineer/Graduate – Perth
We are seeking a highly motivated Civil Engineer or Graduate to join our team in Perth. As a key member of our North West Minor Improvements Team, you will play a vital role in the investigation, design, planning, procurement, and construction management of improvement works on the North-West trunk road network.
About the Role:
* Assist in the investigation, design, planning, procurement, and construction management of improvement works.
* Work with internal and sub-contractors' resources.
Main Responsibilities:
1. Detailed Design: Prepare detailed designs for trunk road improvements schemes, ensuring compliance with technical standards and industry best practices.
2. Compliance: Ensure that all designs and projects adhere to relevant technical standards, including the Design Manual for Roads and Bridges.
3. Project Management: Assist in the preparation of reports, investigations, feasibility studies, and options assessments to inform project decisions.
4. Tendering: Produce tender documents, pre-construction information, and construction packages for external tenders and in-house contractor delivery.
5. Contract Administration: Work with commercial specialists to complete tender evaluations and assist with contract award.
6. Safety and Environment: Collaborate with Environmental specialists to ensure adequate environmental screening is undertaken and appropriate mitigation measures are implemented prior to work commencing.
7. Quality Assurance: Follow Health, Safety, Environmental, and Quality procedures to ensure compliance with the company's Integrated Management Systems.
8. Asset Management: Use Transport Scotland's asset management systems and geographical inventory system to maintain up-to-date inventory data and as-built records.
9. Financial Management: Prepare cost estimates and monitor the internal financial performance of individual schemes.
Requirements:
* Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or related field.
* Possess professional qualification and membership of an appropriate professional body or be working towards it.
* A full approved UK driving licence is essential.
* Proficiency in AutoCAD software is mandatory.
* Familiarity with Microsoft Office suite of software packages is required.
