The role
Pr. Delivery Consultant, AWS Professional Services Job ID: 10440496 | Amazon Web Services Australia Pty Ltd

AWS Professional Services is seeking a Strategic Modernisation Consultant to lead a landmark Agentic AI-powered application modernisation program for one of Australia's largest mining and resources companies. This Perth-based engagement modernises a complex, business-critical legacy platform using generative & agentic AI tooling, domain-driven decomposition, and cloud-native architecture patterns – compressing what would traditionally be a multi-year modernisation effort into an accelerated timeline. The program has already delivered significant value in its first year, validating the approach through working prototypes and measurable business outcomes.

You will be the senior technical and consulting leader for the engagement, responsible for modernisation strategy, executive stakeholder management, multi-partner delivery orchestration, and value realisation. You will lead a cross-functional team of 14+ engineers and architects across three parallel delivery squads, working alongside a global management consulting partner and the customer's internal technology teams.

Key job responsibilities Strategic Leadership

Own the end-to-end modernisation strategy — from GenAI tooling productionisation through domain decomposition to legacy system retirement

Define and sequence modernisation waves, balancing technical risk, business impact, and resource constraints

Shape program commercial structure, including resource mix, investment trade-offs, and statement of work design

Translate technical progress into business value language for executive and Board-level audiences

Executive Engagement

Operate as a trusted advisor to the customer's CDIO and senior technology leadership at peer level

Partner with delivery partners, including global management consulting leaders, maintaining accountability for technical outcomes within a joint delivery model

Present to and influence C‑suite and Board-level stakeholders on modernisation progress, risks, and strategic decisions

Engage with AWS senior leadership on program strategy, escalations, and resource commitments

Technical Leadership

Lead the transition of validated GenAI prototypes from minimum lovable product to production

Define future‑state domain architecture for a large-scale legacy platform with 1,000+ integrated assets

Provide architectural oversight across multiple delivery squads, ensuring consistency, quality, and operational readiness

Drive modernisation planning including dependency management, risk mitigation, and integration with enterprise platforms

Team and Capability Building

Lead and mentor a team of senior engineers, architects, and specialists

Build modernisation capability within the customer's technology teams — the goal is customer self-sufficiency by program end

Orchestrate multi-partner delivery
